2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class consumes 15% less fuel than current model

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which gets a modest facelift compared to the 2011 version. For starters, exterior design tweaks are limited to an aluminum hood with some modified headlamps and LED running lamps positioned down low, but it's what powers the 2012 C-Class that will set its apart from the outgoing model, as Mercedes-Benz will offer a four-cylinder engine option in the C250. The direct-injected 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbocharged mill seems potent, with 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque on tap. M-B claims that the C250, equipped with the redesigned 4Matic transmission, will sprint to 60 miles per hour in 7.1 seconds, while returning a reasonable 24 miles per gallon (combined). The automaker claims that at 24 mpg, the 2012 C-Class is up to 15 percent more fuel efficient than any of the soon-to-be extinct 2011 models.

Windows Phone 7 Showdown: LG Quantum vs Samsung Focus

Microsoft is in the middle of a comeback in the mobile world, and it’s on fire. The tech giant has committed to throwing enough money and effort at its brand new Windows Phone 7 OS until something sticks, hopefully taking enough market share away from Apple and Google to make it worth it. And it’s got help, too, having recruited a few willing companies to be the heavy-hitting introductory chapter in Microsoft’s newest book. The question is, do they hit grounders, doubles, or home runs? Also, which ones should you put your hard-earned money into?

As of this writing, only 5 phones in the US run on Windows Phone 7: 3 on AT&T, and 2 on T-Mobile. I’ve had the opportunity to review 2 of these, the Samsung Focus and LG Quantum. I concluded that both were excellent phones in various ways, and both are the same cost. So it’s natural to wonder which one is the best.

There's no question that the popularity of the iPhone made game developers see an opportunity to create something special for a new mobile device. As a result, just about every big-name game developer now has something for the iOS. We also get cutting-edge game development; the touch screen challenges game designers to come up with new ways of using gestures, swipes, and taps to control the action on the screen. Even newer technologies like in-app purchases have changed how developers can package games and downloadable content on the iPhone. All of these things make the iPhone a unique platform for game development.

So without further ado, here is my slideshow (with countdown) for the best iPhone games of 2010. Make sure to comment on this article for games you think should have been on the list or if you just want to talk about your favorites!

Microsoft's monthly security updates for February have left Windows XP users unable to restart their computers, according to more than 100 people on a Microsoft support forum.

"I updated 11 Windows XP updates today and restarted my PC like it asked me to," said a user identified as "tansenroy".

"From then on, Windows cannot restart again. It is stopping at the blue screen with the following message: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer."

The complaints started appearing after Microsoft released 13 security updates, but Microsoft forum moderator Kevin Hau said only one update was causing problems for XP.

"There is only one patch that requires uninstallation to resolve the blue screen issue. KB977165 is the patch in question, the other patches do not seem to cause the blue screen behaviour and do not need to be uninstalled," he said in a forum post.

Uninstalling the faulty patch will fix the problem, said Hau. Users should then follow the Microsoft guidance on how to protect their computers without installing the faulty update.

How to Make 3D Glasses at Home Using a CD Case

Those classic red and blue 3D glasses are still useful! But where the heck can you find a pair in a pinch? Don't worry, with an old CD case and a couple o' sharpies, it's ridiculously easy to make your own.

It's dead simple: you need a clear CD case (or any sheet of clear plastic, really) and red and blue permanent markers. All you need to do is fill in a square of red and a square of blue on the CD case, and you're off and living in the 3rd dimension. Watch how it
